ADOPTION

We have been in the process of adoption for over a year now. It's taken us longer than normal because we wanted to make sure my health was taken care of first, which we ourselves kept having to wait for.

We are adopting out of Foster Care. More specifically through the Cherokee Nation. There is a HUGE need for ppl with Indian Bloodlines to become homes (whether resource, foster, adoption, etc) because there are so many children in need that can only go to Indian Blood. See in the Indian Child Welfare act HERE.

We are already approved.

So far we are adopting ONE, but God might change that so we'll see.

I am not telling whether we are hoping for Boy or Girl, nor what physical/mental disabilities we will accept (although through foster care you DO have the choice as to what you think you can handle) because I don't believe as most ppl do in these areas of disability, and I want the sex to be a surprise to those that do not know...I will tell you it was my husband's decision, not mine. I was ready to leave that part up to God but he decided we were fit otherwise and I trust him.

We are in the waiting process now. All the paperwork is done.
Waiting is hard.

When we have the child in house I cannot tell you everything you'd like to know, so don't ask until the child is ours forever. At first the child will be under a "foster/adopt" status and thus still ward of the state until the judge declares child ours forever. This can take anywhere from 6 mos-1 year. So I can post "Gotcha Day", I can announce sex and...that's about it. No pics, no personal info. So, unless you are our friends and see us in person often you won't get to see child until Adoption Day.

If you would like to know more about the children waiting in the Cherokee Nation you can visit the below sites. Please pray about it as the need is great.
